As the final boxes leave the warehouse, Sgema’s publishing arm has announced its recent multilingual publishing project The Boy and the Wall has raised £3,000.

Sold throughout Wales at local bookstores and via the online store, all proceeds raised were donated via SOS Children’s Village Palestine to support vital support in the country. A range of Sgema team members, from bilingual copywriters through to designers, provided their expertse free of charge for this worthwhile cause.

Placing the money raised in tangible activity, SOS Chidlren’s Village Palestine confirmed it has led to:

• 136 individuals participating in workshops focusing on child protection and gender equality, child
rights and reporting pathways;
• 7 psychosocial first aid sessions aiming to process feelings of fear and improving their well-being;
• 30 people to receive support to provide for their basic needs from medical services, to shelter support, to non-food essentials such as clothing or hygiene supplies; or
• 94 people with recreational activities designed to aid with processing their experiences and trauma.

SOS Children’s Villages Palestine worker in the West Bank added: “The needs are huge but every single partnership, every single contribution, we all know it matters. We know that we’re saving lives, that’s simple, so any, any effort, any, any action, we co-operate together, trust me, it directly created the impact on the ground.”

The response to the multilingual publication (Welsh, Arabic, and English) has shown how storytelling can play a role in raising awareness while also contributing directly at times of crisis.
A limited number of copies of The Boy and the Wall are still available to purchase via the Sgema store.
